The encounter unfolded about 10:15 p.m. after officers responded to a 911 call about a man who had grabbed a bottle of wine and started to walk around with it at a business on Date Street near Columbia Street.

At least one officer fired a Taser while trying to detain the man, who tried to bite an officer in the leg, police Officer Robert Heims said. The man was taken to a hospital to be checked out by medics.
