Farmers’ market reopening in Irvine

Shoppers stopped before bushels of fresh fruit and mounds of colorful vegetables on Saturday, July 11, in the parking lot of Mariners Church in Irvine.

But this time they were discouraged from handling the produce as a precaution against the coronavirus spread.

It was the first day the weekly farmers’ market reopened, now with extra safety measures in place such as limiting the number of shoppers at a time, people wearing masks and having stations with hand sanitizers.

The market is open 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays at 5001 Newport Coast Drive, Irvine.
